MARQUEE RECORDS:
NURTURING BURGEONING MUSICAL TALENT
The stage is set, so step inside….
As a great British icon of music the world over, The Marquee Club first opened its doors to an audience of vibrant live Jazz music in 1958, at 165 Oxford Street London. It was to prove a pivotal venue for nurturing burgeoning young talent by staging early performances by bands who were set to achieve worldwide fame through the 1960s and 70’s. The club became a mecca for many bands in the following decades and is famous for staging the first-ever live performance by the Rolling Stones on 12 July 1962.
The Marquee moved to its most famous of address in April 1964, 90 Wardour street. This was the venue that became the spiritual home to so many artists, none more so than The Who.
Until now….
The baby brother of the first Marquee Club brand, the recently launched Marquee Records in 2020, drives to reinvigorate the ethos and spirit of those early halcyon days. Cultivating and developing the absolute best of a new generation of musicians. Marquee Records provides a platform for new talent to explode from the recorded format, onto the global stage.
Marquee Records recognises that the biggest help an artist can get is access to studio recording facilities, which has resulted to the birth of the Marquee Records studio hub. Some artists will arrive at our doors, shrink-wrapped and ready for release – those are the artists assigned to the Marquee Black roster. Whereas Marquee Red, trailblazes future talent. We aim to develop these acts with our in-house team of producers and engineers; led by Michael Smith, who has amassed millions of streams across all digital platforms, and numerous radio plays across the BBC and Independent Networks, including shows presented by Steve Lamacq, Huw Stevens, Jack Stevens, Annie Mac, Charlie Ashcroft.
